Equipped with a dual filter to remove chlorine and minerals from tap water, this coffeemaker brews up to ten 5-ounce cups of full-flavored coffee with no off taste and prolongs the intervals between decalcification. The water filter is just one of the features distinguishing this handsome, compact coffeemaker. Thanks to an electronic control panel with a LCD display, the warming plate can be programmed to shut off automatically, and the 24-hour clock/timer can be set for brewing wake-up coffee. Other features include a 20-second pause in the brewing cycle when the glass carafe is removed for a midbrew pour, a carafe lid that seals in flavor and aroma, a warning light that indicates when the water filter needs replacing (replacement filters can be ordered separately), and an easy-to-read water-level window. I have owned one of these coffee makers since 2003. It still works, even after all these years. I've been looking for another one, but this is the only place I've found a new one. The asking price at this site is about $20-$25.00 more than what I paid for it back in 2003. I know it has been on the shelf for at least nine years. The carafe and water filters are still available. As far I'm concerned, this a 5 star coffee maker. Krups replaced this coffee maker with a mediocre one that doesn't review nearly as well. I wouldn't mind owning another one exactly like the one I have, however, I am concerned about investing more money in a product that has already been on the shelf for 10 years. If it weren't for that fact, and the price was 50% less, I would grab it. This has been a great little coffee maker, and I highly recommend it if you can put up the money for it.
